Group 2NE1′s leader CL has revealed words that she has not been able to say anywhere else all this while.
On this episode of KBS 2TV’s ‘Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook’, which will air on the 30th (today), CL who has come on the show after 3 years said, “It seems that the public doesn’t see 2NE1 as girl idols, but neither do they see (us) as musicians, (I’ve) thought a lot about what the public was expecting from 2NE1 prior to this comeback“.
2NE1 has had some time to step away from the (Korean) public as they went on their world tour recently.
CL said, “there was time (during the world tour) to think about these concerns.” She continues,”although it’s been a long time since we were active, and although it was exciting to do this album, I was afraid“, showing that the worries that the 2NE1 members have hidden behind their bright appearances all this while.
Also, CL honestly reveals her fear that 2NE1 will be seen as just another stereotypical group.
She said, “although it has been our thing to be unpredictable and ‘have no limits’ to our looks ever since our debut days, I feel that it’s regrettable how people think of it as ’2NE1′s formula’ when they think of (us) these days.” She continues, “I want to break this mold and mature (as artists).“
Yoo Hee Yeol gave his heartfelt support by saying, “worries like these.. as time passes, branches that grow from those roots will bear fruit“. His response was met with rousing applause from the audience.
Other than 2NE1, Park Hak Ki, Koyote, MR.MR will also be making an appearance at KBS 2TV’s ‘Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook’ at 12.20 AM (KST), August 31.
